The 6th Battalion was formed in Victoria 1914 and was part of the 2nd Brigade.

The 6th Battalion AIF was part of the 2nd wave of the ANZAC landing on the 25th April 1915 and was part of serving Australian forces at Gallipoli until the evacuation in December 1915.

In March 1916 the Battalion was sent to the Western Front were it fought in the battles including Ypres, Pozieres, Hindenburg Line, Amiens….

The 2/15th Infantry Battalion was formed in 1940 in Redbank Brisbane (Queensland) for service in World War 2. After the units several months of basic training in both Redbank & NSW the 2/15th Battalion boarded the Queen Mary and sailed for Palestine (arriving early 1941) alongside other 20th Brigade units (at first part of the 7th Division then 9th Division AIF).

Battle Honours Included: Bumi River, Scarlet Beach, North Africa, Borneo….

The 8th Battalion was formed in August 1914 and recruited from Ballarat, central and western Victoria. Orginally led ny Lieutenant Colonel Bolton, the 8th Battalion served with distinction in Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Belgium. Three members of the 8th Battalion were awarded the Victoria Cross (VC). These were Lieutentant Joynt, Privates Cooke and Beatham. The most decorated member of the Battalion was Captain Percy Lay. During his service on the Western Front, Percy Lay was awarded the Military Cross, the Distinguished COnduct Medal, the Military Medal and the Croix de Cuerre.  

Formed in 1914 Victoria and was part of the 2nd Brigade.
